Job Opportunity – Advice Session Supervisor, Citizens Advice South Hams

Citizens Advice has been solving life’s problems for over 80 years, supporting local communities with expert free, independent, confidential and impartial advice. At Citizens Advice South Hams 2021 is our year of renewal following Covid-19.  Demand for our services is increasing, as is our team of staff and volunteers.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Advice Session Supervisor to join our small, friendly, and supportive team in managing the advice sessions, supporting and supervising paid and volunteer advisers, and ensuring our advice is delivered at the highest quality across all our channels.

The job includes:

·         Managing the practicalities of the advice session and ensuring adequate staffing and resources.

·         Monitoring the quality of advice work in accordance with Quality of Advice Audit (QAA)

·         Monitoring case records, telephone calls, emails, and webchats of staff and/or volunteers to meet the stipulated standard and service level agreements.

·         Identifying and actioning remedial and developmental issues by providing feedback and developing individuals to improve the quality of service.

In addition, you will have:

·         Commitment to, and ability to work within, the aims, principles and policies of the Citizens Advice service.

·         Recent experience of welfare or related advice work in either a paid or voluntary capacity.

·         Proven ability to manage /supervise others, including an ability to motivate staff and volunteers and give feedback objectively and sensitively through regular appraisal activity.

To be successful, we would like you to demonstrate excellent people skills, a flexible approach, an interest in problem solving and possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to manage a busy workload.  Whilst experience delivering advice in a Citizens Advice environment is preferred, we welcome diversity both in our people and our thinking, we welcome applications from all advice settings from those who desire to serve their community and want to make a difference.

No persons shall proceed on the section of the following public right of way except for access to land or premises on or adjacent to that length of way.

Public rights of way affected:

FOOTPATH NO. 7a, STAVERTON the section running adjacent to Sparkwell Cottage.

The closure is necessary to enable installation of steps and correction of path.

The restriction shall remain in force for the above period or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.

The alternative route is shown on the adjacent plan.

Councillor Vacancies on Staverton Parish Council

Are you inspired to get involved in your Parish Council to make a real difference at local level?

We are looking for two new Councillors by a process called co-option, which means that people may put themselves forward without going through a local election process.

Who can be a Parish Councillor?

You must be:

• At least 18 and a British, Commonwealth or EU Citizen
• On the electoral roll for the area, or have worked or occupied as owner or tenant, any land or premises in the district for at least a year

What does a Parish Councillor do?

At a basic level, attend monthly meetings (held on the first Wednesday of the month, alternating usually between Staverton and Landscove, where planning and community matters are discussed.  You can join a Working Group (like the Neighbourhood Plan, Finance or Climate Emergency), advocate for changes in our area by speaking to our District Councillor, look after our public spaces and allotments, and just generally seek to make this Parish continue to be a lovely place to live.

STAVERTON PARISH COUNCIL

Require a part time, self-employed Lengthsman

Total of 80 hours flexible working from October 2021 – March 2022

(to be extended to cover the following two winter seasons)

General maintenance jobs required around the Parish will include:

• Clearing drainage ditches and gullies of leaves and debris
• Clearing storm debris on the lanes
• Cleaning of grates and pavement maintenance e.g. removal of grass/mud
• Clearing foliage around road signs and cutting verges to assist visibility at junctions
• Attending to minor repairs

Local knowledge advantageous, but not essential.  Spraying certificate would be useful.

Applicants must have Public Liability Insurance, safety training to work on the roads and provide their own vehicle and equipment.

1. An election is to be held for a Police and Crime Commissioner for the Devon and Cornwall Police Area.
2. Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the Police Area Returning Officer, Exeter City Council, Paris Street, Exeter EX1 1JN during the times stated below. Please phone 01392 265141 to arrange.
3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer at Exeter City Council, Paris Street, Exeter EX1 1JN between 10am and 4pm on any working day after publication of this notice but no later than 4pm on Thursday 8 April 2021.

Neighbourhood Watch Network is supporting Sussex’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, who, in partnership with the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC), has created an online survey designed to understand the public’s perception of dog theft, enforcement, and the prosecution of offenders.

The survey includes a question seeking views on whether dogs should be treated in law merely as property when they are stolen. Having a common understanding of how the public feels about this issue will help inform discussions that PCCs and NWN will have nationally, as well as allow police forces to better understand the public’s views.

Mrs Bourne said: “Pet theft, dog theft in particular, is a growing concern for the public and their fear has been perpetuated over the last couple of weeks with shocking reports in the media of more dogs being snatched by criminals.

“I am incredibly eager to get more detail around this issue and understand residents’ views and if they feel more could be done to respond to their concerns or for more preventative measures to be put in place to better protect their pets.”
