DCC are responsible for maintaining all roads in Devon except for the following:
- Motorways and trunk roads are maintained by Highways England
- Torbay roads are maintained by Torbay Council
- Plymouth roads are maintained by Plymouth Council
There are 12,800 kilometres (8,000 miles) of road from major routes to narrow country lanes, the longest network in England.

DCC also explain their criteria for whether they will or will not repair potholes etc. With austerity, and continued low taxes for the super-rich in London, there is not enough money in the pot for the roads to be fully maintained – CLICK HERE
