and
A38 Ashburton exit slip road (Linhay) eastbound overnight closures for vegetation clearance – 23 to 25 January 2023
National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. This email is to let you know about upcoming works on the A38 at Ashburton.
Road marking renewal works on the A38 eastbound from Ashburton to Caton will start on the evening of Tuesday 17 January and finish on the morning of Friday 20 January and will take place overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
To minimise disruption, we’ll work on weeknights only when there are fewer vehicles on the road. The road will remain open during the works, with a convoy traffic management system in place and may involve a short wait at traffic lights. During the day we will keep the road open as usual. The work is currently programmed as follows:
- Tuesday 17 January to Friday 20 January – overnight lane closures on the eastbound carriageway between Ashburton and Caton, with a convoy traffic management system in place for 3 nights from 8pm until 6am the following morning. During the works, the following slip and entry/exit roads will be fully closed from 9pm each evening:
-
- At Ashburton, Whistley Hill junction eastbound exit slip
- At Ashburton, Old Totnes road eastbound entry slip
- Eastbound exit slip towards B3352
- Eastbound exit slip towards A353 and Widecombe
-
There will be a fully signed diversion route in place for the slip and entry/exit roads full closures, but please allow extra time for your journey. Access for residents will be maintained but may involve a short delay depending on our stage of work. Please show a copy of this postcard to our gatemen who will escort you through the works if necessary.
The Ashburton (Linhay) exit slip eastbound will be closed for 2 nights from Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 January, 8pm in the evening to 6am the following morning. We’ll be carrying out vegetation clearance to ensure there is enough head room for heavy goods vehicles and cutting back fir trees (sides only) next to the footway to clear space for pedestrians. We’ll work overnight when traffic flows are at their lowest. Works may be noisy, please accept our apologies in advance for any disturbance which may be caused.
Traffic management while the slip road is closed will involve traffic for Ashburton being diverted to Goodstone exit slip to join the A38 westbound, before leaving at Ashburton exit slip.
We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
