Victory Hall and Playground

Landscove Victory Hall in the community

Picture

Our village hall celebrated it’s 60th birthday in May 2012 with a ceremonial flag raising!

The village hall has an active committee who are always planning the next social or fundraising event and warmly welcome new volunteers. While the hall is well-maintained, fundraising is underway for refurbishment. The hall offers excellent acoustics as well as a badminton court layout on the parquet floor.

The hall is regularly hired out and is popular for parties, wedding receptions, with orchestras, drama groups, pre-school toddlers, after-school clubs and much more. Hall hire includes access to and use of the kitchen (including all crockery  & cutlery)  plastic seating, large trestle tables and poker tables.

Clubs & Events

Awaiting update

Breakfast Markets

Breakfast market is the first Saturday of the month (in July & August we take a holiday) and is from 10am until 12pm. The raffle is always drawn at 11.45 to much excitment!

Breakfast Market is a fun way of meeting up with your neighbours and friends while feasting on one of the famous bacon butties served up by a team of volunteers in the kitchen cafe! There are also stalls selling all sorts of jewellry (vintage, silver, Brazilian), plants, meats, home-made cards, wood craft, art work, cakes and much more. The market is held every first Saturday morning of the month except in July and August.

Spring & Autumn Suppers

The much-loved spring and summer supper tradition is going strong. Lovely decoration, wonderful home-produced food, a prize raffle and the bring-your-own-bottle theme remains popular among the villagers who enjoy this opportunity to connect with their friends and neighbours. Your friends and family are welcome to come along, the more the merrier!

Christmas Carols

Picture

Carols on the Green – a lovely and very spontaneous event took place last year and many more villagers are looking forward to being involved this winter. After the huge success of the 2010 party featuring fantastic folk band Dawn Treader, this year looks set to be an even bigger event!

Our Playground

Picture

Opposite the village hall is our beautiful playground with amazing views over the fields towards Dartmoor and the impressive outline of Hay Tor. Few playgrounds enjoy such green tranquility, delicious blackberries and the frequent opportunity to watch some impressively large, muddy and varied tractors driving past – I am guessing that all village children are infected with some early-age tractor awe!

As well as a super-long slide, double-swing, bouncy rocker, wooden climbing fort with monkey bars, football goal and spinning pole, we also have a willow tunnel and fabulous new Vogelnest swing. The playground committee is made up of local parents who are currently planning something for older children. If you would like to be involved just email us via the contact page – we would love to hear from you!
